CLUBGOLF

The clubgolf programme was launched in 2003 to fulfil the Scottish Government’s promise to provide every child in Scotland with an opportunity to experience golf – part of Scotland’s commitment to the game which formed part of the successful bid to host the 2014 Ryder Cup.

The introductory game firstclubgolf is now well established across the country, and provides children with an opportunity to experience golf in Primary School.

Scottish Golf Clubs Given Opportunity to win RBS Junior Golf Awards

Brunston Castle's Festival of Clubgolf.

Over forty 8-14 year olds, plus parents and grandparents attended a Festival of Clubgolf on Friday evening after school at Brunston Castle.  The youngsters were first treated to resident LET professional Pamela Feggans' demonstrations of the kind of golf which can be played when you start in primary school and take it up seriously. Draws, fades, punch shots, trick shots as well as stunningly long drives impressed the assorted audience. As Pamela can easily outdrive most men, many jaws dropped ......

Each youngster had a skills program of 7 different tests to try; from short putts, to chips over 'lakes' to a green, to drives down the fairway. Stray younger siblings and parents could have a go in the driving range. Almost eerily, the rain came on just as we finished, and prizes were given out to the winners in every age year in the Clubhouse.  Everyone got a new white glove, [very professional!]  water bottle, baseball cap as well as tees and a marker, much to their delight.
