Brunston Castle may be - for the moment - somewhat down, so to speak, but out they certainly are not.

Firstly the men's Mail on Sunday team whitewashed Stranraer, 5 wins to nil;  Eva and Lynda did their Jamie Oliver for the troops returning in from the cold.

Not to be outdone, the Daily Maul Ladies, Helena and Marion [Whiteford] positively demolished Barassie.  Once again the chefs went into action, and Alex and Ann were most impressed, especially as Barassie have had roofs coming down and sewers coming up with the incessant downpours.  As Alex Glennie is the current the Scottish Vets Matchplay Champion, this was indeed a feather in the Club cap!

The spell of mild [and sunny!!!] weather in February meant that fairways and greens could be cut and the scenery was absolutely superb. Quite a few visitors appeared and were most impressed, by the state of the course, the first signs of spring around the course - snowdrops - and the very friendly welcome they enjoyed.

Sadly the Ladies Daily Mail team were beaten in the mountains of Newton Stewart.  Perhaps next year .....

The men continue on however, having beaten Wigton and Bladnoch in an away game went on to win against Dalmilling.

A good attendance at the SGM was encouraging and once again the membership has shown its true grit in its determination to keep the club going, whether it is behind the desk or behind the scenes. Almost everyone has paid their levies and Club dues, even though the call came wen a goodly number had fled the rain for sunnier climes.

A common topic of chat was how nice it was to see the old classy vector logo of the tree behind the 5th green, in the compliments slip sent out with the fixture cards.  Let's hope it is not buried too deep in the bowels of a hard drive somewhere!

The swans are also back!  Alas, no camera!

BRUNSTON LADIES OPEN:  2012. The weather darkens as we go down on to the first green.  The turnout was encouraging not just in numbers but in the attitude and warmth of support shown by our visitors. We employed outside catering and  opened the bottles of wine won in the raffle and although there were fears of the last in being drowned, a good day was hard by all.  Rather than just take pix of the winners I hoped to capture the feeling of hope and support in this little movie.  I could not get too close anyway as the Belleisle outing camera club was too much competition!
