Dear Parent/Guardian,

Clubgolf is a government initiative to introduce all children to the game of golf by the age of 9.  All Primary 5 children should have received a 6-week golf experience through their school called ‘firstclubgolf’.  Brunston Castle Golf Club are now offering the next step in the clubgolf Pathway called ‘clubgolf Stage 1’ in the form of 2 x 6 week courses, spread over 2 years i.e. during the summer each year.

Stage 1 is designed to introduce the children to the sport and to learn skills such as putting, chipping, pitching and full swing. The etiquette of the game is also incorporated throughout the sessions and provides a natural progression to further stages of clubgolf and onto the golf course.

Stage 2 is also being offered at the golf club, which targets children who have had a reasonable amount of on course experience and who play the game regularly. Children can naturally progress from Stage 1 to Stage 2 at our golf club. This stage further develops the skills learnt in Stage 1 but also introduces the player to course management, pre-shot routine and shot shaping.

There are three stages within the clubgolf Player Pathway, with Stage 3 targeting more advanced juniors. It is hoped to offer Stage 3 programme in the future.

Our coaching is delivered by Level 1 volunteer golf coaches who have been trained by the Professional Golfer’s Association (PGA) and have undertaken appropriate Child Protection training and Enhanced Disclosures with the support of clubgolf. 

The programme will help your child to meet new friends, who they can play with as golfing partners to further develop their golf. 

If your child is interested in taking part in these coaching sessions, please bring them to the golf club for an Enrolment Evening on Friday 6^th May 4:30pm – 5:30pm where our coaches will give them a chance to try golf and offer advice on how to sign up for our programme this year.

The sessions are due to commence on Friday 13^th May at Brunston Castle Golf Club. 

The cost of each 6 - week course, payable in advance, for either Stage 1 & Stage 2 is £12 

For your information the proprietors of the golf course, are offering a April to September, membership of £50 for 12 and under and £75 for ages 13 –17, also if your child wants to play in competitions and have a handicap the golf club, joining fee is an additional £10, reduced to £5 if taking the clubgolf programme. 

Please note: if your child has already joined the club i.e. paid £10 membership and then they are entitled to a discount of £5 when joining clubgolf.
